Forest Giants

Alternative / Rock

Forest Giants released their brand new download single on 6th March through Cherryade records of Lancaster, the label which recently brought you the highly acclaimed LP by Steveless, co-incidentally also from Bristol, UK.. The songs on the single are - Planes Fly Overhead, Pick Up the Pieces and Gone Away. The single is available only by downloading from Karma Download - hey, its the modern thing, get used to it! To buy all three songs for a mere 2, go to http://www.karmadownload.com/album/?2142266. A new Forest Giants album, "Welcome to the Mid-West" is released on 15th May - the first CD we've recorded that clocks in at more that 30 minutes!! For those of you that don't know, this is the follow up to 2005's "UFO Stories" EP, which received a whole heap of nice reviews which you can read by visiting our website at www.forestgiants.co.uk. Previous to that we released an album and 7" single on the Invisible Hands label back in 2004, and played live on the Gideon Coe programme on 6Music around that time.... and for all your totalists out there, we also released a DVD late last year called "UFO Movies", which has a 12 song soundtrack featuring session versions and b-sides.. Forest Giants were formed by Tim and Ruth after a chance meeting at a playgroup for their kids - Tim recognised Ruth from watching her play in the Blue Aeroplanes on several occasions.. A mere 18 months or so later, they began rehearsing some of the songs Tim had written in the three years or so since leaving the Beatnik Filmstars (for personal reasons by the way..) just after the band released their first album for Merge records in the US. Forest Giants played for a while with drummer Jo Head, recorded a single for Mobstar and an album for Invisible Hands, before Jo moved to London. Co-incidentally, Tom had just stopped playing with ex-Beatniks John and Andrew in Kyoko, and was looking for something to do, so he joined up, and Paula was asked to play some keyboards and violin. Gigs have been few and far between, but the bands philosophy has always been to do what we want, when we want to... so there!
